So, we have all heard that a writer must write to please the reader, the publishers and the editors. This is true if we ever want to get published! However, one important thing to remember is that we must also stay true to what is at the heart of our writing: Our need as a writer, to get the words out of our heads.
To this end, I would suggest that you remain true to yourself in your writing. As a struggling writer, one who is trying to beat that dreaded writer’s block, I feel like I need to write what is close to my heart first. Later, I will worry about pleasing others!
