A Mother’s Pain

It is a moment that one can never forget,
When you struggle and strain to bring a life into this world

As little blue eyes gaze into yours
Your heart becomes theirs, Like steel, love is forged.

You raise them and watch them, grow from baby to child
You guide them and teach them, they fill you with pride.

They keep growing and you keep giving love
Never guessing someday, they will turn on you and run

That sweet baby face turns angry and cold
They blame you and hate you for their troubles and woes

The knife in your heart, they twist it as far as they can
From down on your knees, writhing with pain

You cry as they go,
wondering if they will come home someday

  2. Been there, done that….the joys and woes of parenthood, still we love our rug rats….Great poem, Candace, good luck….Tabs

  3. Candace, your words are lovely and so horribly true.

  4. That was beautiful – and so vivid, from my mother’s persepctive. Thanks for sharing!
    Clare 🙂

  5. Beautifully done. And strange how often kids will blame everyone except themselves, but very human. Carol
